Post-Op Update: Resting, Healing & Planning Ahead

Less than 24 hours ago, I was being wheeled into surgery, and now here I am—back home, cozy in bed, surrounded by snacks, water, and pain meds, with my remote in one hand and a fan blowing on my face. Surgery went smoothly with no complications (🙌🏽), and while I’m still a little groggy from the meds, I’m already moving around on my own with minimal assistance. Progress! This morning, I even saw the kids off to school—from the couch, of course. Having my son and the boys' father here has been a huge help, and knowing I have the support I need makes it easier to actually rest instead of thinking about all the things I "should" be doing. Business on My Mind (Because, Of Course 😂) Even though my main focus right now is resting and healing , my ADHD brain has already started planning ahead. Here’s what I’m working on (from bed, obviously): 📱 Staying Active on Social Media – Just because I can’t be hands-on with my business doesn’t mean I can’t stay engaged. I’ll be ke...

Hump Day Reflections: Surgery, ADHD, and Staying Productive in Recovery

Happy Hump Day, y’all! 🐪✨ Tomorrow morning, I’ll be heading into surgery (a hysterectomy, if we’re being discreet), and while I know it’s necessary, I can’t help but feel a little nervous. What’s waiting for me on the other side? How bad will the pain be? How will my ADHD handle the fact that I have to sit still for a while? The Battle Between Recovery and Restlessness For those of us with ADHD, the idea of forced rest is torture. I’m the type to jump into action at the drop of a dime, especially when it comes to running my business. While my full-time job provides benefits for this kind of situation, Moodsips Customs relies entirely on me—my creativity, my hustle, and my ability to make things happen fast. But for the next few weeks, my only job is to rest and heal. But let’s be real, “resting” doesn’t mean I’ll be doing nothing. 😂 My Post-Surgery Productivity Plan (From Bed, Of Course!) Since I won’t be able to work on custom tumblers or vinyl designs right away, I’m shift...

Monday Musings: Backup Plans, Self-Care & Marketing Moves

Happy Monday, friends! ☕️✨ Let’s kick off the week with a mix of humor, nerves, and business strategy—because if there’s one thing I’ve learned as an entrepreneur, it’s that you have to be ready for anything. Backup Plans & The Elon Effect So, apparently, Elon Musk spent the weekend coming for government workers, which has me side-eyeing my contractor status like, hmm… maybe it’s time to speed up this whole “full-time business owner” thing. 🤔 Because let’s be real—if he ever decides to turn his billionaire gaze toward contractors, I’d rather have a thriving business to fall back on than be out here applying for jobs on LinkedIn like, “Professional vinyl weeder & tumbler magician seeking new opportunities.” All jokes aside, this is a reminder that having a strong backup plan isn’t just a good idea—it’s a necessity. Building a business that’s sustainable, profitable, and ready to scale means always thinking ahead. If you’re in the same boat, let’s talk—what’s your exit ...

Presidential Creativity: Leaders Who Overcame the Obstacles

Happy President’s Day!  Ever wondered what some of our past presidents would be like if they had a creative business or a blog? Turns out, quite a few of them had artistic passions, learning challenges, and even traits that align with ADHD! JFK: The ADHD Icon Before It Had a Name John F. Kennedy was known for his high energy, quick thinking, and ability to hyperfocus —all classic ADHD traits. He thrived under pressure and had an incredible ability to switch gears quickly. If he were alive today, he’d probably be the guy impulsively buying 14 different types of resin molds at 2 AM because he just had to try them all. 😆 FDR: The Original Blogger? Franklin D. Roosevelt wasn’t just a president —he was also a writer. He penned articles, speeches, and letters that kept the country motivated during tough times. If blogging had been a thing in the 1930s, you know FDR would’ve had a daily motivational blog with deep reflections, leadership advice, and probably some witty sarcasm. LBJ ...

Crafting Is My Boyfriend… And Honestly, He’s High Maintenance

Ah, Valentine’s Day—the one day a year when everyone’s either swooning over their significant other or aggressively pretending they don’t care. Meanwhile, I’m over here in a committed, long-term relationship with crafting. And let me tell you, crafting is just like having a boyfriend— needy, unpredictable, and always requiring my full attention. 1. He’s Expensive, But I Can’t Quit Him 💸 Like any toxic relationship, crafting drains my bank account. I tell myself I’m “just browsing” when I walk into a craft store, but suddenly I’m at checkout with $200 worth of vinyl, resin molds, and a pack of rhinestones I swear I’ll use someday. Sound familiar? It’s like dating a guy who insists on fancy dinners but won’t even text back consistently. 2. He’s a Mess (And I’m Always Cleaning Up After Him) 🧼 Glitter, resin drips, vinyl scraps—crafting leaves a bigger mess than a man who "forgets" to put his socks in the laundry basket. But do I complain? Absolutely. Do I still come back...

Surviving Slow Sales: What to Do When Business is Quiet

Let’s be real—slow sales suck. One minute, you’re drowning in orders, and the next, you’re refreshing your inbox like, “Hello? Anyone?” It’s not you; it’s the cycle of business. When there’s no major holiday, sports season is winding down, or people just aren’t in a buying mood, sales naturally take a hit. But instead of panicking, this is the perfect time to work on your business instead of just in it. 1. Upgrade Your Skills Slow sales mean more time to level up. Take an online or in-person class to refine your craft. Whether it’s advanced Cricut techniques, resin pouring mastery, or laser engraving , investing in new skills now means new products (and higher prices) later. 2. Refresh Your Marketing Strategy Now’s the time to revamp your social media, website, and email marketing . Try: Posting more behind-the-scenes content Creating time-lapse videos of your custom tumblers or vinyl designs Running a giveaway (because free stuff always gets engagement) Sending out an email news...

Crafting & ADHD: A Match Made in Creative Chaos

If you’ve ever found yourself elbow-deep in glitter at 3 AM, obsessively watching YouTube tutorials for a new craft you just have to try or  staring at a pile of untouched supplies wondering why you never got around to that "brilliant idea"—congrats! You might just be an ADHD crafter. Welcome to the club. As I talk about in my book, Now Everything Makes Sense: How ADHD Finally Explained My Life ( Get it here ), ADHD isn’t just about forgetting where you put your keys or getting distracted mid-sentence (though, let’s be real, that happens too). It’s about hyperfocus, impulsive creativity, and the never-ending cycle of “I NEED THIS NEW CRAFT TOOL IMMEDIATELY” —only to lose interest two weeks later when something shinier comes along. Hyperfocus: The ADHD Superpower (and Curse) One of ADHD’s greatest quirks is hyperfocus—the ability to lock in on something so intensely that hours pass in the blink of an eye. For me, this meant spending entire nights perfecting resin art, testing...

The Vendor Show Hustle: The Blood, Sweat & Glitter Behind the Booth

Attending vendor shows seems like a fun and easy way to sell products, right? Just set up a table, lay out some personalized tumblers and custom gifts, and wait for the money to roll in. Simple. Ha! If only. The reality is that vendor shows require an insane amount of time, effort, and patience—sometimes for a big payoff, sometimes for absolutely nothing but a long day of smiling at people who barely glance at your table. Let’s start with the preparation, which feels like training for the Olympics of small business hustle. Weeks before the event, you're making sure you have enough inventory, carefully crafting and packaging each item. You spend late nights customizing products, labeling everything, and checking that your display is aesthetically pleasing. You’re also calculating prices—because let’s be honest, there’s a fine line between pricing for profit and pricing yourself out of a sale. Charge too much, and people scoff as they walk away. Charge too little, and you're bas...

From Pandemic Hobby to Moodsips Customs: How I Turned a Random Craft into a Business

You know how people say, "Find what you love and make money doing it"? Yeah, I didn’t plan on that happening. But here we are. Let me tell you how I accidentally turned my crafty quarantine boredom into Moodsips Customs, LLC. It all started during the pandemic when we were all stuck inside, losing track of time and binge-watching way too many shows. In a desperate attempt to keep my sanity, I decided to try resin art. No real reason—just something new to keep me from online shopping myself into debt. So, I made myself a rolling tray with an Aries logo on it (because, obviously, Aries energy is unmatched). It was just for me, something cool to have around the house. But then, I made the crucial mistake of posting it on Facebook. Next thing I knew, people were sliding into my DMs asking where they could get one. Friends, family, random internet strangers—everyone wanted a custom tray. And they were willing to pay. At first, I was just charging for supplies, but then I realize...
