If you’ve ever found yourself elbow-deep in glitter at 3 AM, obsessively watching YouTube tutorials for a new craft you just have to try or staring at a pile of untouched supplies wondering why you never got around to that "brilliant idea"—congrats! You might just be an ADHD crafter. Welcome to the club.
As I talk about in my book, Now Everything Makes Sense: How ADHD Finally Explained My Life (Get it here), ADHD isn’t just about forgetting where you put your keys or getting distracted mid-sentence (though, let’s be real, that happens too). It’s about hyperfocus, impulsive creativity, and the never-ending cycle of “I NEED THIS NEW CRAFT TOOL IMMEDIATELY”—only to lose interest two weeks later when something shinier comes along.
Hyperfocus: The ADHD Superpower (and Curse)
One of ADHD’s greatest quirks is hyperfocus—the ability to lock in on something so intensely that hours pass in the blink of an eye. For me, this meant spending entire nights perfecting resin art, testing vinyl cuts, or experimenting with sublimation tumblers from my shop at Moodsips Customs. It’s amazing for creativity and business—until I realize I forgot to eat, sleep, or, you know, pay attention to anything else in life.
Impulsive Learning: The Never-Ending Craft Supply Haul
Tell me if this sounds familiar: you see a TikTok video of someone making custom epoxy tumblers. Obviously, you need to try it. You immediately buy all the supplies—glitters, molds, a turner, maybe even a heat gun. The package arrives, you’re giddy with excitement… and then, two weeks later, it’s still sitting in the box because you’ve already moved on to UV DTF wraps, canvas art, or screen printing (that you swear you’ll get back to one day).
I’ve done this with sublimation printers, fancy vinyl colors, blank tumblers, and custom-engraving tools—all of which you can find in my shop at Moodsips Customs. Some made it into my regular rotation, but others… well, let’s just say my craft closet is a whole mood of unused potential.
Why Crafting and ADHD Just Make Sense
Crafting gives ADHD brains exactly what they crave: novelty, hands-on engagement, and endless possibilities for trial and error. When I made my first resin rolling tray during the pandemic, I had no idea it would spiral into a full-blown business. But ADHD creativity doesn’t stop at “just one.” That first tray led me to custom tumblers, vinyl decals, glass etching, and engraved drinkware—and before I knew it, Moodsips Customs was born.
Embracing the ADHD Crafting Cycle
If you’re like me and constantly jumping from one creative obsession to another, here’s my advice: lean into it. ADHD may make us impulsive crafters, but it also makes us fearless creators. And sometimes, that’s exactly what leads to something amazing—like turning a hyper fixation into a business.
So, if you need an excuse to grab just one more custom tumbler, laser-engraved mug, or vinyl-wrapped wine glass (I got you), head over to Moodsips Customs. And if you want to dive deeper into the ADHD madness that got me here, grab a copy of Now Everything Makes Sense right here.
Because let’s be real—there’s always room for one more craft project, right? 😉
